Your information
Privacy policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
This policy explains how SeaWindow, provided by Mohamed Elatabany, handles information when you use the app, this website, or contact support.
The essentials
SeaWindow has no account and no server of its own. Your places, preferences and journal stay on your device. To show forecasts, the app sends the coordinates of the coast you select directly to the data services listed below. There is no advertising and no tracking.
1. Places and location
You can choose places manually. If you tap “Use my area”, SeaWindow asks for permission to use your location while the app is open, and uses it only to suggest a nearby coast. Your location is not stored on a server by us. You can change location permission at any time in iOS Settings.
2. Forecast data services
To show forecasts for a selected place, the app requests data directly from:
- NOAA CO-OPS (U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration): the tide station identifier and date range, for tide predictions at U.S. stations. Outside the United States, tides are calculated on your device and nothing is sent.
- Apple Weather (WeatherKit): the place’s coordinates, for weather. See Apple’s privacy policy.
- PacIOOS (University of Hawaiʻi) and NOAA CoastWatch: a small area around the place’s coordinates, for waves, swell and sea temperature.
- NOAA/NWS: map tile requests when you open radar.
- Apple Maps (MapKit): your search text and map area when you search for places or view maps.
These requests include the technical information any internet request carries, such as your IP address. Each service handles that information under its own policy. SeaWindow does not send your name, email, journal or purchase information with these requests.
3. Journal
Journal entries, notes, photos you choose with the photo picker, and the conditions captured with an entry are stored on your device. The photo picker gives SeaWindow only the photos you select. Export and sharing happen only when you choose them, and the destination’s policies then apply.
4. Purchases
Apple processes App Store payments. RevenueCat validates purchases and manages SeaWindow Pro access using an anonymous app customer identifier, purchase and subscription history, and technical app/device information needed for its service. SeaWindow does not receive your payment-card details. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
5. Notifications, widgets and Apple Watch
Forecast alerts are local notifications scheduled on your device. Widgets, Live Activities and the Apple Watch app use a forecast summary shared on your device; they do not send it to us.
6. Advertising and tracking
SeaWindow does not include advertising or analytics SDKs, does not request the advertising identifier, does not sell personal information, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
7. Support and this website
If you email support, your email address, message and anything you include are processed to respond to your request. Support email is handled through Gmail.
This website uses GitHub Pages and contains no analytics scripts, advertising trackers or forms. GitHub may process technical request information to deliver and secure the site, under GitHub’s privacy statement.
8. Retention and your choices
Deleting a place, journal entry or the app removes that data from your device. Purchase records held by Apple and RevenueCat, and support emails, may be kept as needed to restore purchases, answer requests, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information; contact us for help with information we can access.
9. Children and changes
SeaWindow is a general-audience planning tool and is not directed to children. We may update this policy as the app or its services change, and will update the date above.
10. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, contact Mohamed Elatabany at atabany.apps@gmail.com with “SeaWindow privacy” in the subject.
